The Global Strategic Design Office is recruiting for a Senior Manager, Experience Strategy with a brand focus. This role is located in New York, NY, and may require up to 25% travel.

The Senior Manager, Experience Strategy with a brand focus is a self-starter and a versatile leader who represents the GSDO on cross-functional teams and guides them to deliver smart, people-centered design solutions. In this role, you will help drive the company’s brand and experience strategies.
As a Senior Manager within GSDO, you will lead initiatives that define and unify brand experience design across multiple touchpoints. You will help teams translate insights into brand positioning and architecture, naming, value propositions, communication and product/service strategies enabling J&J to bring our brands to life through holistic experiences that are distinguished from the competitive landscape.
As a brand experience strategist you will design engagements that help us to understand what people value and need. You will define strategies that grow brand loyalty by creating functional and emotional connections with people. You will help lead key aspects of messaging and content ensuring they remain true to the brand’s essence, character and tone of voice. You will help evaluate and leverage brand metrics to ensure the team delivers quality insights and strategies. You will use these insights to help J&J make sound decisions that grow brand. In that sense you will help define not only what a brand says and does but also focus extensively on what it enables for a brand and/or a category. Importantly, using the overarching J&J brand as guidance, you will help build logical arguments to define and implement user experiences for individual brands.
You will help define and contribute to enterprise-wide brand standards that result in familiar, intuitive and fresh experiences for all stakeholders. You will contribute to a vision for how brand and design thinking should differentiate solutions and programs. You will help J&J to set and measure brand experience and key performance indicators.
Finally, you will lead by example on a day-to-day basis and in accordance with the J&J Credo and J&J Leadership Imperatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree a plus. A minimum of 8-10 years experience with 5+ years in brand experience strategy. Corporate experience across a variety of industries desired. Should possess change agency and business partnership skills at all levels of the organization including sensitivity to different cultures and interests. Demonstrated knowledge of design thinking and sustained engagement and the impact of these on process effectiveness and business outcomes. Experience applying customer insights to extend value, loyalty and to develop new, cohesive brand stories and enable fresh brand experiences. Demonstrated capability to provide thought leadership. Proven results crafting simple and actionable strategies for complex problems. Prior management experience, including program management and ability to be creative with constrained resources is required. Track record in managing direct reports and mentoring colleagues with respect to your craft within projects and within the organization at large. Ability to build trust even when communicating a dissenting viewpoint. Excellent writing and synthesis skills. Able to influence senior management decisions regarding design strategy and lead key discussions. Ability to collaborate across functions to build brand alignment and ensure cohesive brand experiences (business units, internal communications, product, services and solutions). A demonstrated passion for J&J, its products, and its customers. An understanding of the evolving role of brand in the digital age desired. Proficient with current software e.g. Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
