Quality Engineer - Aerospace
The Quality Engineer is responsible for the creation and maintenance of Quality Inspection and Control Plans for new and existing programs and other quality documents. The Quality Engineer is a key participant in Continuous Improvement activities within the quality department and the Company through participation in root cause and corrective action, internal audits and liaison with quality inspectors, production and manufacturing engineering.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Create and maintain Quality Inspection and Control Plans for new and existing programs
Review GD&T, Key Characteristics and assign gauging methodology for new and existing programs in order to accelerate the inspection and verification processes
Work with Program Managers and Manufacturing Engineering to co-ordinate, prepare and maintain FMEA's and Process Flow diagrams
Work with Production to define and support Operator inspection activities
Provide technical guidance to the Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant customer and company requirements.
Conduct internal audits, including closing out audit findings, create audit finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions.
Manage suppliers' performance and conduct audits.
Ensure timely resolution of supplier non-conformances, including corrective actions and preventive actions.
Continuously improving Receiving Inspection processes and procedures.
Qualifications
Education Requirement
• University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) designation an asset
Experience Requirement
• Minimum 5 years' experience in Quality Engineering
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Sound knowledge of ISO9001-2008/AS9100 QMS principles
Sound knowledge of GD&T, FMEA; knowledge of DOE application an asset
Sound knowledge of manufacturing plans
Sound knowledge of computers and relevant software packages
Sound knowledge of CMM's methodology and application and use of verification equipment, including but not limited to: calipers, micrometers, shadow graph, gauges
Knowledge of process capability, key characteristics and Quality software
Knowledge of gauging methodology and metrology
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Must be able to communicate fluently in both written and spoken English
